Hot Tea Brewing Basics

Perfect Hot Tea Every Time:

  • Use 1 teaspoon loose leaf tea per 8 oz of water
  • Heat water to 200-212°F (90-100°C) for black and herbal teas, 175-194°F (80-90°C) for green teas
  • Steep black and green teas 3-5 minutes, herbal teas 5-7 minutes
  • Cover while steeping to retain heat

Blueberry Lemon Sun Tea Delight

Perfect for Maine's sunny summer days

The sun's gentle heat creates a smooth, naturally sweet brew that captures the essence of a Maine summer.

Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons Blueberry Lemon Black tea
  • 4 cups cold water
  • Fresh lemon slices
  • Optional: fresh Maine blueberries for garnish

Instructions

  1. Add tea leaves and lemon slices to a clear glass jar
  2. Fill with cold water and stir gently
  3. Place in direct sunlight for 3-4 hours
  4. Strain and serve over ice
  5. Garnish with fresh blueberries and lemon

Maine Maple Mint Iced Tea

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons Pemaquid Peppermint tea
  • 4 cups hot water
  • 2-3 tablespoons pure Maine maple syrup
  • Fresh mint sprigs for garnish

Instructions

  1. Brew Pemaquid Peppermint tea with hot water for 5-7 minutes
  2. While warm, stir in maple syrup to taste
  3. Let cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for 2+ hours
  4. Serve over ice with fresh mint sprigs
  5. Perfect with a drizzle of extra maple syrup

This is our go-to remedy when the family needs comfort. The warming ginger and marshmallow soothe while the mint refreshes, and the honey makes everything better.

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Combine both tea blends in your teapot or infuser
  2. Pour boiled water over tea blend
  3. Steep for 5 minutes, covered
  4. Strain and stir in honey while warm (if using)
  5. Sip slowly for maximum comfort
